About Our Team

HR Operations provides a range of HR shared services to our People Leaders across the hire to retire spectrum. This includes frontline advisory services, employee contract processing, organisation and employee master data changes, time and attendance and payroll – to name just a few! Due to a internal movement we are now seeking a fresh driven Operations Lead – Advisory.

About The Opportunity

As an emerging Leader, you'll be at the forefront of redefining HR operations and shaping the future of the P&C community. Your ambition and innovative mindset will be key as you leverage cutting-edge technology and cross-skilling opportunities to drive efficiency and independence. You'll collaborate with a diverse team of professionals who provide end-to-end HR support, you will help shape solving complex problems, and achieving strategic goals within an operational context.

Reporting to the HR Operations Manager, you will lead a team of HR Advisors and be supported technically by Senior HR advisors to successfully deliver professional, solutions focused HR support to our People Leaders.

As an important member of the HR Operations Leadership team, you will work closely with other Operations Leads taking responsibility for the efficient, and quality management of people, process, policy and pay related queries and cases.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:
  • Building and maintaining effective, positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, People Leaders, Business Partners, and the wider P&C community.
  • Leading, coaching, and mentoring the advisor team to ensure there is continued growth and development.
  • Leading the way on the new service principles and strategy for HR Operations.
  • Maintaining sound knowledge of customer demand, trends, and experience to identify new service opportunities.
  • Identifying, designing, and optimising of new and improved processes into HR Operations.
  • Reviewing and managing the workload management of the HR Ops team, ensuring processes are effective and delivered within our agreed service level agreements.
  • Leading and coaching the team and being the escalation point to resolve issues.
  • Continuously looking for and implementing improvements in operational processes.

Location - The majority of the HR Operations Team are based in Hamilton, and this is the preferred location for the Operations Lead.

About you

This is a fast-paced and ever-changing role, and you will need to be agile to flex and evolve as we continue to embed our HR Operating model. As someone with an HR and/or shared services background, you will also preferably have experience leading or influencing others alongside working in a high-pressured environment with conflicting priorities and planning for workload volume requirements ahead of time.

To be effective in this position you’ll be an ambitious and motivated professional eager to excel in an operational HR career. You will have innovative flare, with a passion for leveraging technology and self-service solutions. You thrive working collaboratively in a busy team environment and enjoy working with diverse professionals. Naturally you will be a problem solver with a curious and inquisitive nature, capable of making informed decisions and seeking long-term growth and development in your career.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
  • Working experience in a HR Shared Services model (or ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of how it works).
  • Experience leading and developing others, either directly or through influential leadership.
  • HR technical experience (preferable), including a understanding of employment legislation, CEA’s and work in a unionised environment.
  • An understanding of the needs of the customer and the importance of delivering quality customer service.
  • An ability to analyse data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and learning agility.
  • Bias to action and making things happen, navigating confidently through ambiguity.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
